The Home Bench is the private virtual therapy practice of Mackenzie Archibald, Registered Social Worker (RSW). Your privacy matters, and it matters more here than in most places, because the reason you are on this site is personal. This policy explains what information we collect through this website, why, and how it is protected. It covers the website only. Any therapy you receive is governed separately by the intake and consent documents you sign, and by professional and legal confidentiality obligations.
What we collect
- Contact details you give us. If you fill in the contact form or a survey, we collect what you choose to share, such as your name, email, and message.
- Booking information. Consultations are booked through Jane, a third-party booking and practice-management platform. Information you enter there is handled under Jane's own privacy terms.
- Basic usage data. Like most websites, we use privacy-respecting analytics to understand how the site is used (pages viewed, general location, device type). This helps us improve the site. It is not used to identify you personally.
How we use it
To respond to you, to arrange consultations, to send you a resource you asked for, and to improve the website. We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for advertising to you.
Who we share it with
Only the service providers that make the practice run, and only for that purpose: our booking platform (Jane), our website and secure data hosting, our email delivery, and our analytics. Each holds your information under its own privacy and security terms. We may also disclose information where required by law or where there is a risk to safety, consistent with a Registered Social Worker's professional and legal duties.
How it is protected and kept
Information collected through this site is stored securely with access restricted to the practice. We keep it only as long as needed for the purpose it was given, or as required by professional record-keeping and legal obligations, then remove it.
Your choices
You can ask what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, subject to any records we are professionally or legally required to keep. These rights are consistent with Canadian privacy law (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial legislation.
